Brushes, Bats, and Bonding: OECM Hosts Staff Painting Day and Softball Games for Team Building and Connection
Team connection doesn’t just happen during meetings, it’s built through shared experiences, time together, and a chance to step away from the day-to-day routines. This spring, OECM hosted two different types of staff events designed to strengthen internal relationships and support a positive, engaging workplace: Staff Painting Day and Softball Games.
Both activities were part of OECM’s broader focus on staff engagement, which is an important driver of collaboration and overall workplace culture.
Staff Painting Day: Creativity Meets Connection
In April, staff gathered for an afternoon of guided painting. The session offered a relaxed environment where employees could connect with colleagues, try something new, and take a well-deserved break from their usual routines.
Each person left with their own unique painting, and the sense of having had a relaxing and meaningful way to connect across our teams.

Softball Game: Bringing Each Other Home
In May, staff headed to Riverdale Park for the first game in OECM’s three-game staff softball series. The afternoon was relaxed and energetic, with plenty of laughs, friendly competition, and team spirit.

After the final game, everyone gathered to unwind and refuel with a well-earned juicy burger, adding the perfect finish to a fun and active day. Whether stepping up to the plate or cheering from the sidelines, the event offered a fresh way to connect beyond the office.
Our second staff softball tournament got a little cloudy – literally. While the weather rained out the game, our colours stayed bright. We took the rainbow indoors and kept the Pride Month celebration going strong!

With another game planned for July, we’re already looking forward to what’s next.
