School Bus Rider Safety Training Services
Through this re-tendered agreement school boards and consortia gain access to standardized school bus rider safety training designed to meet the needs of elementary students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8. The training sessions for the new agreement cycle will commence for the 2026-27 school year.
Delivered by Intertrain Incorporated, the School Bus Rider Safety Training is a regularly updated program that is available in both English and French. This program was developed in response to the Auditor General’s 2015 recommendation for student school bus safety.
Designed to provide Primary (JK–Grade 3) and Junior/Intermediate (Grade 4–Grade 8) students in Ontario with inclusive, age-appropriate training on how to be safe in and around a school bus, the program promotes appropriate student behaviour and contributes to a positive school climate.
Training sessions are approximately 30 minutes in length and use engaging, multimedia and interactive components, aligned with relevant legislation and key bus rider safety messages. Sessions are delivered by skilled trainers who ensure that safety learning is both effective and enjoyable.
