OECM is pleased to announce the appointment of Nela Petkovic, Wilfrid Laurier University’s Chief Information Officer (CIO), to its Customer Council Committee, effective April 9th, 2025. Nela joins the committee as an advisory member representing Ontario’s university sector.

Nela is the Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Wilfrid Laurier University, where she has served in various progressively responsible roles since joining the institution in 1995. Appointed CIO in 2014, Nela has led several transformative initiatives at Laurier including the development and implementation of a five-year strategic plan for the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) department, the establishment of a formal ICT governance structure, and the realization and adoption of a comprehensive Digital Strategy for the university. She contributes to the broader post-secondary and technology sectors through her involvement on several boards and committees. Nela holds a Master of Science in Electronic Engineering, a Project Management Professional (PMP) designation, an Advanced Executive Certificate in General Management from Queen’s School of Business Executive Education, and Artificial Intelligence Ethics Micro-Credentials from Athabasca University.
OECM’s Customer Council Committee (CCC) serves as a direct conduit for customer engagement and influence at the Board level. CCC members provide strategic input to OECM regarding our customer-centric strategy, products and services, customer and supplier relationship management, service delivery approach, and more.
