OECM’s Step it Up Challenge

October 15, 2021

Supporting fun and healthy ways to stay active, OECM introduced the Step It Up Challenge on July 1, 2021! The challenge motivated staff to break the work-from-home routine by completing and checking off as many activities as possible from a list made up of more than 60 exciting activities.

This voluntary wellness challenge was divided into two parts – the Step It Up Challenge, where participants accumulated kilometres as they walked, ran, and counted steps, and the Adventure Challenge, where different outdoor activities (e.g., dancing, playing soccer, among others), added points towards the chance of winning various prizes.

In addition, all participants entered a bonus draw for a chance to participate in a thrilling EdgeWalk at the CN Tower with OECM’s CEO, John Sabo and Chair of the Board, Dr. F. Haider Alvi!

Over 20 staff joined the challenges and shared their progress for two months, uploading a picture for each activity they completed in Strava, an app that tracks exercise while incorporating social features.

The winners were announced by the end of the challenge and took home amazing prices after staying active and accumulating many kilometres through different activities.
