November 1, 2021

On September 30th, OECM commemorated Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation by hosting a virtual presentation where Kelly J Lendsay, President and CEO of Indigenous Works, discussed Accelerating Workplace Inclusion and Engagement.

OECM staff, Board Members, and Customer Council Committee Members attended this virtual presentation to mark September 30th as a day of reflection and education, and remembering the lost and survivors of residential schools, their families, and communities.

In his presentation, Kelly walked attendees through the history and contributions of Indigenous people in our land, in what he called ‘Indigenous 101’, and shared several other vital points, including:

  • The 4 Pillars of Exclusion and Inclusion
  • Growing the Path of Inclusion
  • State of Corporate Indigenous
  • Truth and Reconciliation
  • The Workplace Inclusion Continuum
  • New Innovations in Indigenous Inclusion

This initiative strengthens OECM’s responsibility and commitment to improving relations between nations. It is a step forward in the spirit of reconciliation and collaboration with Indigenous people as we look into the future while acknowledging the past and present of our nation.
