In October 2020, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ontario government introduced a new, time-limited COVID-19 Resilience Infrastructure Stream (CVRIS) – an initiative that provides up to $700 million in combined federal-provincial funding for education-related projects that protect the health and well-being of students, staff and children.
As you know, the Ministry of Education (MEDU) has since invited school boards across Ontario to submit proposals for consideration under the COVID-19 Resilience Infrastructure Stream – Education Related Projects (CVRIS-EDU). Eligible projects must begin by September 30, 2021 and be completed by December 31, 2021.
As a trusted collaborative sourcing partner for Ontario’s education sector and an established leader in project innovation and procurement, OECM is well positioned to provide assistance to you and your School Boards with this major undertaking. We are harnessing our collective power and influence to leverage opportunities to support School Boards with procurement and logistics required to complete eligible and approved projects within the aforementioned timeframe.
In consultation and in partnership with the Council of Ontario Senior Business Officials (COSBO) and through our active engagement with MEDU, OECM has assembled an OECM Facilities Support Team (OFST) comprised of seasoned Operations, Maintenance and Construction (OMC) leads, Superintendents and other senior-level Board leaders to assist OECM and School Boards with this initiative.
Based on individual project requirements and the needs identified through our OFST and district school boards, OECM will proactively engage with our existing supplier partner base or work to support collaborative sourcing initiatives to help procure products and services that fall within the infrastructure stream. These include products such as: water bottle filling stations, portable classrooms, handwashing stations, doors, touchless fixtures, and more as identified by school boards through your recent proposals.
