OECM’s HVAC Agreements Support Ontario’s Plan for a Safe Return to School

November 9, 2020

On Thursday, August 13, 2020, Ontario’s Minister of Education, Stephen Lecce, announced more than half a billion dollars in supports to enable school boards to provide more physical distancing in classrooms and to make necessary adaptations based on local needs and in consultation with the school board’s respective local public health units.

Of note, school boards will have access to $50 million in one-time funding to support improved ventilation, air quality and HVAC system effectiveness in schools, with a focus on improving air systems in older schools, portables, and in neighbourhoods with higher rates of community transmission.
